Electronic Banking Forum for Banks and Corporates

With the mandatory introduction of real-time processing of SEPA payments, including automated verification of beneficiary account data and migration to the new ISO 20022 formats, important tasks are on the agenda for all those responsible for transaction banking. At the event in Cologne, over 140 experts from banks, corporates and consultancies learned about the challenges and opportunities involved.

A representative of the Deutsche Bundesbank kicked off the event by explaining the importance of regulation for the development of payments, using the Payment Service Directive 3 (PSD3) and the regulation of instant payments as examples.

Solution approaches and practical reports - suggestions for transaction banking

Several presentations were dedicated to meeting the requirements for verifying the payee's account data. SurePay B.V., for example, presented a "Verification of Payee" solution, which can be used to verify the recipient's account information before the transfer is made. Deutsche Bank AG, on the other hand, presented its Account Pre-Validation approach, which enables corporate customers to check the status of the beneficiary’s account using key data before making a payment. A demonstration of the "Verification of Payee" function in MultiCash rounded off this session.

A representative from Omikron provided information on the possibility for financial institutions to use MultiCash On as a real-time EBICS SaaS client and thus establish themselves as a "one-stop shop" for all bank connections of their corporate customers. In a further presentation, the participants also learned about the most important new features of MultiCash Generation 5. These included the new web front-end, the MultiCash TMS components and the powerful fraud protection features.

Finally, NEW YORKER and Omikron jointly presented the steps for introducing MultiCash EBAM as part of a pilot project, including the integration of the necessary KYC and sanctions screening checks.

The key take-aways from the event:

  • SEPA instant payments re-launched: Regulatory changes open up new opportunities and have the potential to become the "new normal"
  • Consistent implementation of SEPA instant payments across Europe, taking into account the requirements of retail and corporate (!) banking, will become a success factor
  • Standardization promotes acceptance and is a prerequisite for automation - not only for familiar and new payment processes, but also for the digitalization of other treasury processes, such as electronic bank account management
  • The role of system providers in electronic banking: responding flexibly to market requirements
  • Above all else: SECURITY FIRST - strengthening corporate resilience against cyber and fraud attacks with the right security concepts

With MultiCash system solutions, you are ideally equipped for the coming transformation of corporate banking.
